These terms are an agreement between you and SailingCyber LLC, which runs the SailingCyber platform at sailingcyber.com, registered in the state of Virginia. "We" and "us" mean SailingCyber LLC. They apply whenever you use sailingcyber.com or any part of SailingCyber.
By creating an account, or by using SailingCyber without one, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. If you do not agree, do not use SailingCyber.
1. Your account
- You must be at least 16 years old to create an account.
- Give us accurate information and keep it up to date. Use your own name or a name that does not impersonate anyone.
- Keep your password and any two-factor codes to yourself. You are responsible for what happens on your account. Tell us at support@sailingcyber.com if you think someone else has used it.
- An account is for one person. If your account was given to you by a school, employer or other institution, that institution's agreement with us also applies. Its administrator can see your profile and that you are a member of its deck, but not your progress or scores.
2. Plans, payments and cancelling
- Crew is free. Voyager and Sailor are paid plans billed monthly or yearly. Prices are shown on the Pricing page before you pay.
- Payments are handled by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card details.
- Paid plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from Settings, Billing. You keep your plan until the end of the period you have paid for.
- We may change prices. If the price of your plan changes, we will tell you at least 30 days before your next renewal at the new price, and you can cancel before then.
- Live classes, ebooks, coaching programs and add-ons may be sold separately, as a one-time payment or on their own schedule. What you get and for how long is shown before you buy.
- Prices do not include taxes unless we say so. You are responsible for any taxes that apply.
- Refunds: When and how we refund is set out in our Refund and Cancellation Policy.
- Promotion codes, credits and free access given as rewards are subject to the terms they were given under, cannot be exchanged for cash and may expire.
3. Using SailingCyber properly
Do not:
- break the law, or help anyone else to;
- harass, threaten, impersonate or discriminate against anyone;
- post spam, malware, or content you do not have the right to share;
- share other people's personal information without their permission;
- scrape, copy or bulk-download SailingCyber content, or use automated tools to access it, except where we allow it;
- try to get around plan limits, access controls or security measures, or to access accounts or data that are not yours;
- test, probe or attack SailingCyber itself, except as allowed under our vulnerability disclosure process: report security issues to platform@sailingcyber.com;
- use SailingCyber to build a competing service.
We may remove content and limit, suspend or close accounts that break these terms, as described in section 7.
4. Hands-on labs
Labs give you real tools, including offensive security tools, in an environment we provide.
- Only use lab tools against the targets provided in that lab. Never use them against any system you do not own or have written permission to test.
- Do not use lab resources for anything other than the exercise: no crypto mining, no attacks on third parties, no hosting of content or services.
- Lab time and resources are limited, and a session may be stopped when it is idle or at its limit. Save your work as the lab tells you to.
- We may end lab access at once for misuse, and report illegal activity to the authorities.
5. Your content
- You keep ownership of what you post, upload or write on SailingCyber ("your content"): posts, comments, messages, resumes, notes, submissions and files.
- You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, display, adapt, publish and distribute your content to run, improve and promote SailingCyber. This covers the automated and AI tools that power SailingCyber features. We can extend this licence to the service providers that help us operate and to a new owner if SailingCyber is sold or merged.
- You can delete your posts and comments. Copies may remain in backups for a limited time, and content others have quoted or replied to may remain in their replies.
- You are responsible for your content and for having the right to share it.
- Report content you think breaks these terms using the report option on it, or at support@sailingcyber.com. Tell us about copyright infringement with enough detail for us to find and assess it.
6. AI features and automated accounts
- SailingCyber uses AI to explain practice questions, build and annotate RouteFinder plans, read resumes you upload, summarise coaching sessions, suggest coaching action points, tutor you in projects and check uploaded images for inappropriate content. AI output can be wrong or incomplete. Check anything important, and treat it as study help, not professional, legal, financial or employment advice.
- Some community accounts are run by SailingCyber and post automatically, for example to share security news or start discussions.
- The Privacy Policy explains what is sent to AI providers.
7. Community conduct and moderation
- Follow our Community Guidelines. Treat other members with respect, and keep discussion relevant to the community or deck you are in.
- We may remove content, and warn, suspend or close accounts, for breaking these terms. The captains who run Cyber Decks may remove members from their deck. For serious or repeated breaches we may act without warning.
- If you think we got a decision wrong, write to support@sailingcyber.com and we will review it.
8. Coaching, classes and recordings
- Coaching programs, live classes and meetings are provided by the coach or instructor named on them, using SailingCyber.
- Sessions, classes and meetings may be recorded and transcribed, and summarised with AI, so participants can refer back to them. You will be told when a session is recorded. Recordings are kept for the periods set out in the Privacy Policy.
- Do not record, copy or share sessions or class materials outside SailingCyber without permission from everyone involved.
- Booking, cancellation and rescheduling rules for each program are shown when you enrol.
9. Certification practice and certificates
- Practice questions and study materials on SailingCyber are written to help you prepare. Questions are either developed by our team based on exam outlines or sourced from other public study materials and refined by our team. SailingCyber is not affiliated with or endorsed by CompTIA, ISC2, ISACA, AWS, Microsoft, Google, EC-Council, GIAC, Offensive Security or any other certification body, whose names and marks belong to them.
- We do not guarantee that you will pass any exam or get any job.
- Do not share real exam content on SailingCyber. It breaks the certification bodies' rules and ours.
- Certificates of completion we issue can be checked by anyone who has the certificate number, on our verification page. It shows the name on the certificate, the course and the dates, as set out in our Certificate Policy. It does not show your scores or grade. We may revoke a certificate that was obtained dishonestly or in error.
10. Rewards and referrals
Reward campaigns and the referral program have their own rules, shown with each campaign. We may withhold or take back rewards obtained through fake accounts, automated activity or other abuse.
11. Our content
Everything on SailingCyber that is not your content, including courses, ebooks, projects, practice questions, videos, software and design, belongs to us or our licensors. You may use it for your own learning while you have access. You may not copy, resell, redistribute or publish it, or share your account to give others access.
12. Other services
SailingCyber uses services run by others, such as Stripe for payments, Google and LinkedIn for signing in, Jitsi for meetings and Kasm for labs. Their own terms also apply when you use them through SailingCyber.
13. Changes to SailingCyber and to these terms
- We may add, change or remove features. If we remove something significant from a paid plan, we will tell you in advance.
- We may update these terms. For material changes we will tell you by email and in the app before they take effect, and ask you to accept them.
14. Ending your account
- You can delete your account at any time from Settings. Deleting it ends any paid plan at the end of the period you have paid for, without a refund except as set out in section 2.
- We may suspend or close your account for serious or repeated breaches of these terms, if required by law, or if we stop providing SailingCyber, in which case we will give you reasonable notice where we can.
15. Disclaimers
SailingCyber is provided "as is" and "as available". We work to keep it accurate, secure and running, but we do not promise that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any content, plan or advice will get you a particular result. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be limited.
16. Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of profits, data or opportunity. Our total liability to you for any claim about SailingCyber is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and US$100. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.
17. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, United States, without regard to its conflict of law rules.
Before starting any legal claim, you agree to write to us at platform@sailingcyber.com and give us 30 days to resolve the issue with you. Any claim that remains unresolved will be heard only in the state or federal courts serving Virginia. You and SailingCyber both accept the authority of those courts. You agree to bring any claim in your own name only and to take no part in a class action or group claim against SailingCyber. You and SailingCyber both give up the right to a jury trial, to the extent the law allows. Any claim must be filed within one year of the event that caused it. Later claims are barred, to the extent the law allows. SailingCyber can go to any court in any country to stop misuse of our materials or to collect unpaid fees. Some countries give consumers rights that a contract cannot remove. Those rights remain for any member they apply to, and the rest of this section continues to apply.
